Wedding Istanbul – Faruk&Alina

Wedding Istanbul – Faruk&Alina

I asked Calin today to allow me to write this blog post, it is after all about my cousin/sister. I’ve know Alina all my life and she has known me even before that. As children we use to set up ghetto tents in the house made out of our grandmother’s blankets, we use to hide and giggle together, we use to play with dolls and dream of the day we will also find our princes and get married in lovely white ball gowns. We have laughed together and of one another but we have also been each other’s shoulder to cry on and it is great to have someone like that in your life.

Calin and I met Faruk three years ago, when we decided to visit them in Istanbul, curious to meet this mysterious guy who managed to put the giggle back into Alina’s voice. Needles to say we loved him right on the spot and felt like he was already part of the family.

A little more than a year ago today, I flew again to Istanbul to be a part of their special day and photograph their wedding. Alina met me at the airport and she had the most beautiful smile on, the one that says “I’m really happy and I know I’m making the best choice ever”. It was Friday and after a lovely family gathering the two of us got to spend the evening giggling like we use to when we were kids and trying to put fake nails on Alina’s fingers. We failed miserably but it was worth it for the good laugh.

Saturday morning started with a huge storm, the kind of storm where you want to get all the stray cats into your home and never let them out again. But as Calin always says there’s no Saturday without sun and so, right before we were suppose to leave the house the sun came out and stayed with us for most of the day.

It was a lovely Turkish city hall ceremony, where I did not understand a word but that didn’t matter, you could read the love and happiness in the bride and groom’s eyes and that made it all worthwhile.

At the end of the day, while enjoying our dinner on the banks of the Bosphorus, nature decided to gift the lovebirds with a beautiful rainbow and we all saw it as a good luck sign.

We wish you guys all the love in the world and hope to be able to keep photographing your love in the years to come.
